2nd Sunday after Pentecost, 2016

I watched the Indianapolis 500 after I got home from church. What a race! There needs to be some improvement in managing the pits, far too many time cars bumped each other or otherwise violated the rules on leaving the pits. Whenever I record a TV show I almost always erase it immediately after watching it. The 500 I think I will keep, at least for a while so I can watch it again.

This is the weekend that we should honor those who fell in defense of America and our rights. I say should because too often I find someone who dose not have a clue and does not care. We have, as a nation, become so complacent about what we have that we risk losing everything. I watch a lot of YouTube videos, especially on Thursdays when I add a chapter on my other blog: christophercolesite.wordpress.com, and one channel I like to look at is Sargon of Akkad and his This Week in Stupid videos. I don’t agree with everything he says and stands for but when he posts his TWiS videos I cringe at just how stupid some people are. I enjoy it when he points out the hypocrisy of the “Regressive Left” and how they are violating the tenets of honest liberalism. And he never seems to lack examples. I know that there are just as many on the Right who could fill a video blog with stupidity but I get informed of them every day by the various news media.

Another type of YouTube video I like to watch is the cosplay ones. I rarely know who the character being presented is but I enjoy the work and skill that went into making those costumes. I once bought a DV of Circ de Solei (I hope I spelled that right) because I had seen one of their performances on PBS and was intrigued. I enjoyed the performance but I wanted to examine the costumes but I could not as the DVD disabled the zoom, pause and slow motion functions. I did not know why until I saw the section on the behinds the scenes and saw that a lot of the performers were underage children. Clearly those functions were disabled to prevent pedophiles from using the DVD to examine those children too closely. It is a shame really as the costumes were intricate and beautiful. I would have enjoyed looking at the details but I understand why it was done.

The choir at Grace-St. Paul’s is off for the summer. I miss them already as, although I cannot sing worth a used Tinker’s Dam, I enjoy music.

If you wish to do so, please pray for: Michael the Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church, Kirk the Bishop for Arizona, Steve and the other clergy at Grace-St. Paul’s Episcopal church; for those in the military, especially those in combat zones, especially Ronald Berryhill, Owen Chandler, Christopher Gallo, Michael Hannan, Andrew Harris, Donna Heath, Frederick Jenning, Jordan S. Trinity Sunday, 2016

A pair of my friends got married yesterday – not a State-sanctioned marriage just a ceremony at the home of the father of one of them. It will be a common-law marriage as far as Arizona Law is concerned. The two of them have been a couple for about ten years or so but now they have made it a bit more formal. They are also two of the group IRPG play table-top RPGs with. Several of the others were as well, the only one missing is the one who lives in Phoenix and he had other plans for this weekend since there was no game due to the wedding. One of the pair is a good cook and he did the dinner Friday night and the after-wedding dinner as well. I haven’t weighed myself, I do that on Friday morning, but I guess I put on a few pounds that I shouldn’t have. But it was a good party.

I have all of Dreadnought finished, chaptered and proofread. As soon as I finish putting Entrance Examination up on christophercolesite.wordpress.com, I will start in putting Dreadnought up and I should have Generations upon Generations done and ready by then. The next book in the series is in my mind but I don’t have it thought out yet. If you do go to that blog please give me your comments on what I have written. I look forward to the feedback.

I have a web camera coming so that I will finally be able to get some videos up on YouTube for the Pima County Libertarian Party. I have tried recording videos using my laptop’s camera but the audio and video are out of sync. I can not get the difference to less than about four seconds. So, I’ll try a separate camera and see how that works. It should arrive Tuesday.

If you wish to do so, please pray for: Michael the Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church, Kirk the Bishop for Arizona, Steve and the other clergy of Grace-St. Paul’s Episcopal Church; for those in the military, especially those in combat zones, especially Ronald Berryhill, Owen Chandler, Christopher Gallo, Michael Hannan, Andrew Harris, Donna Heath, Frederick Jenning, Jordan S. Marks, Eric Osche, Mark Pundt, Terrence Robinson, Laramie Struble, Brian; for those on need especially Toni Sue Brooks, Catherine Brown, Anagrethe Christensen, Jill Clements, Alysha Collins, Jim & Rosemary DeCook, Jay Elliston, Peter Foley & Pia Cuneo, Phyllis Garver, Ann Grisel, Oma “Sam” Guard, Brenda & Gus Gustafson, Brother Chuck Hannan, Joyce Henderson, Francesca Jarvis, Kent & Molly Johnson, Cricket Kelbaugh, Rita Magdaleno, Anagrace & Dan Misenhimer, Nancy Moritz, Brenda Pentland, Bill & Heather Pentland, Danielle Phillips, Jane Pundt, Doree Ramey, Robert Rosenberg, The Reverend Jack Smart, Susan Southwick, Ann M. Stephens, Marilyn Thompson, Sister Carol Wilans, Ed, Georgie, Lee, Melea, Joy Bannerman, Forrest “Duffy” Bledsoe, William Brown, Mildred Gregory, Tony Jones, June Moritz, Maribel Ortiz, Jean Paige, Bridget Piech, Peggy Southwick, Stan Toburen, Amy, Bill, CJ, Connie, Dax & Nancy, Jerry & Rondy, Jim, Joel, Karl, Larry, Marilyn, Mary, Matteo, Mike & Rainbow, Monica & Danitza, Nate, Nick & Emily, Penny, Phil, Shauna, Shelly, Yong, Yvonne & Ty; ffor animal companions in need; or those who have died especially Annie Holbrook; for animal companions who have died especially Prince. I also ask that you pray for the millions of people who have been killed, driven from their homes or otherwise persecuted by Muslims.

Pentecost Sunday, 2016

It is the birthday of the Christian Church as celebrated by those denominations that use a church calendar. At Grace-St. Paul’s we celebrated that birthday and one other, a second birthday (baptism) for a young girl, she couldn’t be more than a few months old. Cute kid but I think all kids that age are cute.

I now have DREADNOUGHT all proof-read and chaptered so it is ready for posting once ENTRANCE EXAMINATION is finished. Another couple of months for ENTRANCE EXSAMINATION and then about half a year for DREADNOUGHT. By then I should have GENERATIONS UPON GENERATIONS finished and ready to go. Having a deadline like this seems to focus me a bit more. I should have done this ages ago. My creative juices are coming back and during some off time I have been working on THE GOD’S TALE and a couple of short stories. I have to remember to not get caught up with those but focus on the project that needs to be finished. I am also thinking about the next book in the space series and getting it working in the back of my mind. It is going to cover a period when Elder is the Operations Officer for Third Fleet and he uncovers a highly placed treason plot and what he does about it. The last book in the series is going to cover the death of the Empire. ENTRANCE EXAMINATION and GENERATIONS UPON GENERATIONS do not cover a lot of what I want to say about big governments, GENERATIONS UPON GENERATIONS was the first book in the series I wrote, and had to get rid of because the fall of the Soviet Union changed the history of that series and I set it aside until I could fix the need to have a strong soviet government aboard the colony ship but no real strong soviet nation in history. I came up with a solution, so I am re-writing that story. And making it better I hope.

Trying to create videos to upload to YouTube is a larger problem than I expected. I am going to upload the videos on behalf of the Pima County Libertarian Party but I can’t get the videos to work. I need training and I have no one to train me. There had been a fellow at the monthly meetings who was going to help me but he hasn’t been around for perhaps half a year. I was able to get one video recorded but the audio and the video were unsynchronized and were about four seconds off. I’ll keep trying.

I am retired but instead of just kicking back and relaxing, I seem to be busier than ever. After I went on the retired list for the Air Force I tried to find work in the civilian workforce and was rejected. I lost jobs due to my race and gender, my age, and my military experience. Finally I just quit. My pay as a retired TSgt was enough, if I was careful, to last me and I took early Social Security to supplement that so I could just kick back if I wanted to, and I did so for several years. But getting interested in politics and the VFW (for a while, I am not active with the VFW any more) had filled up my time so that I never seem to have free time. At least, not much, other than what I steal so to speak. I sold my car in 1994 because I never used it and now I need it more than ever. Ah well, that’s life.

I will not be attending the Libertarian Party National Convention due to no money. That is a shame because I was looking forward to it. However, I have started saving up for 2018 and 2020. I will make those conventions.

If you wish to do so, please pray for Michael the Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church, Kirk the Bishop for Arizona, Steve and the other clergy of Grace-St. Paul’s Episcopal Church; for those in the military, especially those in combat zones especially Ronald Berryhill, Owen Chandler, Christopher Gallo, Michael Hannan, Andrew Harris, Donna Heath, Frederick Jenning, Jordan S. I also ask that you pray for the millions who have been killed, driven from their homes or otherwise persecuted by Muslims throughout the world. Also, please pray for the thousands of veterans who died last week as a result of government neglect and abuse.

7th Sunday of Easter, 2016

Happy Mothers’ Day.

Not being a mother and not being married there is little for me in this celebration; my Mother died in 1992.

This last week has been busy for me, but it has been busy in little things. Every trip I take on the bus, I have no car, takes forever and often when I need to transfer from one route to another the driver of the second bus does not wait for anyone transferring. This is especially annoying when the route I wish to transfer to runs only every half hour or hour. I complain to the bus company but it is a government agency and nothing gets done.

I have 2 Blu-ray players and 2 TVs, one each in the living room and one each in the back room that I use for a home office where I do my writing and so forth. The Blu-ray player in the office just broke and it is annoying because this one has the zoom ability and the one in the living room does not. I like to zoom in on various videos primarily to look at costume details. I watch a lot of YouTube cosplay videos for the same reason, some of those costumes are fantastic. I have been researching Blu-ray players and none of the descriptions mention a zoom capability so I have ordered blind in this regard. I hope that the one I ordered has this capability. I don’t zoom in on cartoons and anime because those quickly become just dots on the screen. But live action videos allow me to see the costume and enjoy the details of the costume.

I have so many videos, I need to organize and catalog them. I had a catalog of them in a spreadsheet but the file got corrupted and I could not recover it so I have to start over. Keeping something like that current is one thing, starting from the beginning is another. I have so many videos that the task is daunting. I have even more books and I haven’t even thought about cataloging them except as a fantasy that I occasionally dream about. Maybe I need to win the lottery and hire someone to catalog both my videos and my books.

I put Chapter Eleven of Entrance Examination up last Thursday. I would appreciate people reading and commenting on it. Yes, I am the author and I see the clues I put in there and you may not, but I really think that if you read the story from the start, by the end of Chapter Three you will be able to solve the mystery. My youngest brother, Eugene, has not solved it yet and keeps guessing who the eleventh person is. His present idea is that it is Father Lester, a Roman Catholic priest even though another character gave a very good reason to eliminate him. But that other character could be wrong even though her logic is sound. Her premise about the amount of time since Father Lester’s ordination could be wrong. I am not saying here or now. That’s the last chapter and I do not think I have cheated in my clues.

I also ask that you pray for the millions of people killed, driven fro their homes or otherwise persecuted by Muslims throughout the world. Also please pray for the thousands of veterans who died last week due to government abuse and neglect.

6th Sunday of Easter, 2016

Last Tuesday, while attending a Pima County Board of Supervisors budget hearing, my knees went into full hurt mode. I have bad knees, the muscles that control the knees do not relax properly according to the doctor, but for the last couple of years they have rarely given me trouble. Last Tuesday my knees declared war on me. I have had more trouble with them since last Tuesday than in the last two years cumulative. And it hasn’t quit. Oh, it isn’t constant, but it is often. Added to my bad left ankle that causes me to trip somewhat often, and I tend to stay at home as a loner. I have been something of a loner since I was young. My eldest brother, the one that died last year, was six years younger than me. And the next two were two years and three years younger than him. My parents tended to move to houses and locations that fit them and not me. When we lived in San Diego, my closest friend was 2 miles away and I had to ride my bike to visit him, and he had to ride his to visit me. When my father suddenly moved the family to Cincinnati between my junior and senior years of high school I never had any friends there. I had a couple of friends in the Air Force but for the most part it was too transient and I rarely met the same people again for friendships to form. And I was not in combat for the deep friendships to form between those who shared combat experiences. My sole time in combat, kind of, was when I was a Security Police Augmentee for one month in 1970. So I don’t have much background to be the life of the party and now, at my age, I am even less so. I do try to get out and meet with people, I meet with some friends almost every Saturday for games, I attend church and the monthly political meetings and of course I chew out the Board of Supervisors every chance I get. But for the most part, I stay at home. So, if you who read this are a parent (or will be a parent), encourage your children to get out and meet strangers, encourage them to make friends, and most importantly do not stunt their social growth.

I now have ten chapters of Entrance Examination up on my other blog (christophercolesite.wordpress.com) and am just over halfway done proof-reading and chaptering Dreadnought. I get some work done on Generations Upon Generations whenever I can. I hope to have that book finished and chaptered just as I finish uploading Dreadnought. The next book in the series will be set several years later, and the last book in the series will be even further in the future of that timeline. Just as a spoiler, in the last book the Empire breaks apart because it is just too big. I probably will never write anything after that breakup, I have too many other stories I want to tell. I just need to get them written down.

If you wish to do so, please pray for: Michael the Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church, Kirk the Bishop for Arizona, Steve and the other clergy of Grace-St. Paul’s Episcopal Church; for those in the military, especially those in combat zones especially Ronald Berryhill, Owen Chandler, Christopher Gallo, Michael Hannan, Andrew Harris, Donna Heath, Frederick Jenning, Jordan S. I ask that you pray for the millions of people who have been killed, drive fro their homes or otherwise persecuted by Muslims throughout the world. Also, pleas pray for the thousands of veterans who die each week due to abuse by the Government.
